What is a vPPA?
A Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) is a financial hedge, not a physical electricity contract.
Your company continues to buy electricity from its normal supplier, but through AEMA’s vPPA you lock in a long-term, stable energy price while supporting renewable generation.
Each month, AEMA settles with you the difference between the agreed strike price and the actual NordPool spot price.
- When the market price rises above the strike, you receive compensation.
- When the market price drops below the strike, you pay the difference.
- This ensures your total cost always stays inside a clear, pre-agreed price band (for example, 50 – 95 €/MWh).
You also receive Guarantees of Origin (GOs) from AEMA’s renewable assets — giving you verifiable ESG and Scope-2 compliance without any change to your existing electricity supplier.
